Today, March 26, is NC State’s Day of Giving. The University is aggressively targeting alumni, students, faculty and other supporters to give money to fund programs and spaces around campus. Yet the University has given no money to hundreds of people harmed by decades of exposure to PCBs in Poe Hall. They have not spent a dime to conduct air quality testing for PCBs across campus, even as other UNC System schools, inspired by the Poe Hall crisis, have embarked on testing campaigns to ensure the safety of their campuses. Chancellor Randy Woodson has not sufficiently responded to the over 1,300 people who signed a petition demanding that the University take steps towards true accountability when it comes to Poe Hall and other campus buildings.
We won’t be quiet about NC State’s toxic campus problem. We won’t make donations to the University until it decides to ensure the health and safety of current and former students, staff and faculty.
Share your reason for withholding donations
On NC State’s Day of Giving, share your reason for not giving money to the University. Your dollars matter to the University, but your voice matters for many more people. Let everyone know why you won’t be making donations to NC State until they listen to the campus community. Make a post on social media, email your former classmates, talk to your colleagues or join the letter campaign demanding that NC State leadership make a serious, publicly accessible plan to address each of the petition demands.
